How do you decide if you have a better future beyond medicine.
In a survey of 1,300 doctors made relatively recently, (1), 63 percent said they would not be the medicine as a career to their children a good idea, explaining that the society does not value the enormous amount of hard work and intelligence is needed. Because of this feeling undervalued, many doctors consider stopping the drug. If one of them, we have some advice for you.
In our scientific work as career counselors, who are approached by hundreds of physicians each year who say they want to leave medicine. In some cases, your instincts are right, a career change is the only way to restore the values and skills that value. However, less than half actually get out. The rest are capable of ways to obtain compliance with their current job. This article (reprinted with permission of the revision of Ophthalmology, November 1998), we give three universal exercises you can do to help you focus on what's missing in his career, and will give you some ideas on how to, or elsewhere, if necessary. Take stock of your skills
A key to evaluating how your career is what influences you are doing. You can use a general answer to the following year. A list of six personal and professional performance that matter most. Find the values

For a person like this, and do not find satisfaction in his current position, it is often not enough to learn what you do not like their work. Instead, you should try to isolate the values you like. This allows you to focus your energy on career search with a good chance of success. Maybe he still loves the intellectual challenge of medicine, and prefer to work in research, or perhaps more interesting is business, and would do best in an administrative role.
This can also be useful in terms of turning a negative situation into something positive, too. Even if you feel dissatisfied with some aspects of practice, you may find that they actually have many common values with ophthalmology, after all. Remember that every profession has its deliberations. For example, although members of the business and financial world do not have to deal with Medicare, have many other frustrations that often refer to the above decision to accept reasonable. Your career health
