Videotape offers shock therapy-Challenged Interview Applicants

Sit up straight. stop typing fingers. If only you could see how you look.

Candidates ignoring the advice of the mother at your own risk, firm interviewers are likely to notice. And it seems to be disabled by the usual signal that inattention or a lack of professionalism.

Therefore, career counselors often make fun of video recordings of interviews with the lawyers and law students see themselves as others see them, or rather, as potential employers see.

"You can tell someone," You're restless. "But if they see it for yourself, have a real impression," says Janet Mosseri, director of career Nova Center Shepard Broad Law in Fort Lauderdale. The school offers mock interviews filmed.

"We do video reviews of meetings with lawyers in practice almost all guidance that comes to us," says Stephen Rosen. A career counselor in New York City, he is the head of Celia Paul Associates, an outplacement consulting firm.

When the video is played immediately after the mock interview, clients are often surprised to see how they present themselves, says Rosen. Usually, he adds, customers can say something like, "Oh, my God, I can not believe I think what I do.?"

Not only bad habits, however, recorded interviews can help solve. Many applicants are not interviewing techniques, questioning in a dialogue of equals understanding, says Rosen. Learning these techniques is essential, he adds. The interviewer is more likely that a candidate who is easy to work with income.

"No matter how good somebody is in job applications, which are best for this, because an immediate response," Rosen said of the video sessions.

Florence Rostami agree. After more than a year to send hundreds of resumes and reach only a disappointing few interviews, he heard a clinic in low-cost advice Rosen offered through the Association of the Bar of the City of New York.

Rostami credits the clinic with help from a three-month internship at a big company in New York to win.

Mock videotaped interviews made her realize that he had found "a little philosophical." It also says an idea of how to highlight their talents acquired.
